Robotics competiton held in Cape Elizabeth

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Cape Elizabeth Middle School hosted the 5th annual VEX Robotics competition Maine State Championship.

The continually growing event had 31 registered teams with over 120 students taking part.

All robots are designed, built, and operated by the students.

The goal of these competitions is for students to experience real world engineering and apply math and science skills learned in school.

The winners of Saturday's event will be one of 500 teams to move on to the world competition.
