Strong wind and rain tonight

After a slippery morning commute for most locations temperatures will continue to warm above the freezing mark through the afternoon. In fact highs will top out in the 40s and low 50s. A strong cold front will bring rain and strong winds to the area tonight into early Thursday morning. Skies will start to clear Thursday afternoon and colder air moves back in. Things will be breezy and chilly Friday and Saturday, but our weather looks pretty quiet until our next chance of some light snow Sunday.

This Afternoon - Dense fog expected in central and southern Maine through the afternoon reducing visibility down to 1/4 mile or less in spots. Temperatures will warm into the 40s and low 50s. Skies will be cloudy with drizzle and scattered showers.

Tonight - Winds will continue to pick up as a strong cold front approaches from the west. Strongest winds are expected after midnight into the early morning hours Thursday. Winds gusts could get up to 50-60mph at times. Power outages are possible.

Rain will also move in during the overnight. Total rainfall amounts will be around 1.00". Rain will be heavy at times especially early Thursday morning. We may even have a rumble of thunder.

Tomorrow - Rain will taper to showers through the morning. Winds will still be gusty through the day. Behind the cold front skies clear during the afternoon from west to east. Temperatures will also start to fall.

Extended Forecast - You will notice a big change in temperatures on Friday. Highs will mostly be in the 20s with breezy conditions. Saturday looks like a nice quiet start to the weekend. More clouds will move in on Sunday with our next chance of some snow showers.
