PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The mother of two men who were shot and killed in Biddeford is suing the convicted killer.
Tammy Cole, the mother of Derek and Gage Green, is suing Rory Holland, who is serving a life sentence. The proceedings began Wednesday, but they were put on hold when Rory Holland failed to show up to court on time. Holland requested to be transported from prison to be present at the hearing. After the hearing had already started, the judge learned that Holland was on his way. Tammy Cole decided to reschedule the proceedings for another day rather than waiting.
One witness did testify in the case Wednesday. Curtis White was good friends with Derek and Gage Green, and he saw Rory Holland shoot both men back in 2009. Tammy Cole's attorney says she filed the lawsuit because Holland has shown no remorse for the killings.
"Mr. Holland has had zero remorse for what's happened," Scott Giese said. "He's had a mockery of the system, he's just not respectful of what has happened to her sons and she wants to bring an action to recover some respect for what has happened to her and her family."
A date has not been set to continue the hearing.
