LIMINGTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire that destroyed a home in Limington Friday night.
Limington Fire Chief Mike Hartford says firefighters were called to the home on Sandville Road just after 8 p.m. Friday. When they arrived on scene, Hartford says half of the building was already engulfed in flames.
Chief Hartford says there were two people home at the time, and they were able to make it out of the building safely with no injuries.
Crews from five different communities assisted in putting out the fire. The home is considered a total loss, and crews cleared the scene around 3 a.m. Saturday.
No cause has been determined yet for the fire, but Chief Hartford says it isn't considered suspicious. He says the family that lived at the home is being assisted by the Red Cross.
The State Fire Marshal's Office has been called in to investigate the fire further.
