SANFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A fire broke out at a group home in Sanford for people dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues.
Firefighters answered a call at Crisis Services, Inc. at 5 High St. just after 8 p.m.
They found a man still inside who appeared disoriented. He was sent to the hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation.
The fire was put out by the sprinkler system and never spread beyond a single room.
Investigators say they have not reached any conclusions about the cause of the fire, but they also made a point of saying they have not ruled out the role that smoking materials may have played.
The Maine Fire Marshal's office, Sanford Fire Dept. and Sanford police are working together to get to the bottom of what happened.
