BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- The United Cerebral Palsy of Maine's holiday gift wrapping booth continues to make your gift-giving a little easier while giving back to the community. The booth has become an annual tradition at the Bangor Mall with all proceeds going to support local children and adults with disabilities.
Krystle Sisco an organizer with United Cerebral Palsy of Maine said, "We would love to raise thousands and thousands of dollars, but really this is also an advocacy opportunity for us. It's getting our name out in the community to thousands of holiday shopper so it's a perfect opportunity for us."
Over 300 volunteers have been wrapping away since December 1st and last minute shoppers have boosted donations. On Saturday the volunteers raised over $1,200 in donations, a record for the booth.
Sisco said, "Some of them come in for the convenience of it because it's a one stop shop. They can just drop off all their gifts, continue their shopping, and keep coming back fifty times while we are wrapping their gifts. But others come because we are here every year. It's for a wonderful cause and they know it's going back in the community. So it's just a great situation."
The volunteers will be continuing to wrap gifts until 9pm Sunday night and on Christmas Eve until 6pm. The booth is located at the Bangor Mall just outside Sears.
