A ridge of high pressure that was located right over New England on Thursday brought us another fine day with temperatures approaching 40 degrees in many locations. The high os going to sink southward on Friday setting up a westerly wind that should transport even warmer air into our region. I expect temperatures to reach the low and mid 40s which is way above normal for the time of year. The warming trend will come to an abrupt end thanks to a cold front that promises to usher in much colder air for Saturday. That day is looking mostly sunny with temperatures in the low to mid 30s. A weak area of low pressure is expected to approach New England on Sunday and pass south of us Sunday night into Monday. Light snow should break out across our region Sunday afternoon and continue into Monday morning. There is considerable disagreement between the models as to how much snowfall the system will bring so at this point we really can't make a credible prediction on snowfall totals.
