HAMPDEN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- All month long NEWS CENTER is collecting coats to help kids in need around Maine and this year the campaign is once again getting some added help.

The boy's basketball team at Hampden Academy have set up a 'Coats for Kids' bin outside of the school's gym. They will be collecting coats at many of their upcoming games before taking all donations over to WLBZ NEWS CENTER 2 in Bangor.

NEWS CENTER is once again collecting new and gently used coats this year to give to the Salvation Army. From there that organization distributes them to people in need all year round.

This is Hampden Academy's second year helping with 'Coats for Kids.' The team will be collecting coats at the school until December 15.
