Portland police ask for help in assault investigation

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Portland police are asking for the publics help in an assault investigation. They say a woman was assaulted while walking on Vaughan Street near Western Cemetery during the evening of November 17, 2012.

Police say the suspect ran up to the victim and knocked her to the ground. Police say the victim struggled with the suspect while being assaulted until he fled.

Portland police have released a composite sketch of the suspect. He is described as a black male, 18 to 23 years of age, 5'6" to 5'8" in height, 170 to 180 lbs. wearing a dark watch, cap style winter hat, dark jacket and jeans.
