AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The Maine Republican State Committee has elected Rich Cebra of Naples as its new party chair.

Committee members on Saturday elected Cebra, who's completed four years as state representative, after rival Beth O'Connor of Berwick dropped out in the name of party unity.

O'Connor went on to win a three-way race for party vice chair.

Cebra was considered a party establishment candidate. O'Connor is a longtime Ron Paul supporter.

After the vote, Cebra said he wants to lead the party to victory in 2014.

The winner will replace Charlie Webster, who helped engineer sweeping Republican gains in 2010 but later led a party tarnished by unproven voter fraud charges, a major rift and big losses in this fall's elections.
