AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Two days after his party suffered big losses in the elections, Charlie Webster says he will not seek another term as Chairman of the Maine Republican Party.

Two years ago, Webster was given a lot of the credit for engineering the Republican takeover of the Legislature. But on Tuesday that all changed, and Democrats won enough races to take back both houses.

Webster also was heavily criticized by Ron Paul supporters for his handling of last winter's Presidential straw poll --- and there are reports that Paul supporters hope to take over leadership of the party.
