BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- It was a Heroes Breakfast that drew people to Jeff's Catering in Brewer Thursday morning.

The American Red Cross gave awards to six people who saved someone's life. Nikki Jackson was one of the recipients. She won an award because she performed CPR on her three year old nephew Joe after he fell in a swimming pool. Jackson said it was great to win the award, but the most important thing is that her nephew Joe is alive.

"We were happy, but at the same time we kind of like went through some post traumatic, but things are good now, you just learn to appreciate more, I think it's brought us all closer as a family," Jackson said.

In all six people received hero awards Thursday morning out of 25 who were nominated.
