BREMEN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Investigators have recovered a body that was found after a fire early Saturday morning that destroyed a home in the Lincoln County town of Bremen.
Firefighters were notified of the fire just before 3:00 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived on scene, they found the fire had flattened the small house located at 435 Turner Road. The body was found in the rubble, and has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta for an autopsy and identification.
Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Steve McCausland says the owner of the home is 56-year-old Steven Sidelinger who lives at the home alone and has not been located. Fire investigators believe the body may be his.
McCausland says the house was once a seasonal camp that had been converted into a year-round residence.
Three State Fire Marshal's Office investigators responded to the scene. It is unlikely the cause of the fire will be determined due to the extent of damage to the home.
