EUREKA, Calif. (NBC) -- A surfer who survived a shark attack earlier this week is talking about his terrifying encounter.
Scott Stephens was bitten Tuesday while surfing in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Humboldt County, California.
Stephens suffered a 14-inch bite wound on the left side of his rib cage that required surgery.
Despite the massive bite, he was able to make it to shore and eventually to the hospital.
Stephens says despite the attack, he is ready to get back in the water as soon as his wound heals.
