FALMOUTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A driver had to be cut free from his car after being trapped by fallen power lines in Falmouth.
The power lines along Foreside Road were brought down by high winds from Hurricane Sandy at around 5 p.m. on Monday.
Keeping in contact via cell phone, emergency responders advised the driver to stay in the car until the wires could be removed.
Eventually, a crew from Central Maine Power arrived with the proper equipment and training to safely cut through the wires.
The driver emerged from the car without any injuries.
Over the course of the night, the Falmouth Fire-EMS Department responded to 16 incidents of downed power lines.
