RANCHO CORDOVA, Cal. (KCRA) - Police say a man has been detained in connection with the brutal slaying of a Rancho Cordova, California woman and two of her children.
Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says a van missing from the family's home was located at a Denny's restaurant in Rocklin around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers said the man believed to be driving the van was located and detained inside the diner.
He is now being questioned by detectives.
On Tuesday, a man made a bloody discovery when he found his wife and two children dead inside a Rancho Cordova home on De Soto Way, deputies said.
A toddler was found alive inside the home.
Sgt. Jason Ramos, a sheriff's spokesman, said the children's father found the victims when he came home about 3:30 p.m.
The father ran to the home of a neighbor, who called police.
A woman who identified herself to as "Lily" said she is the sister of the victim.
She said the family had received threats recently, but did not elaborate.
Officials say the first officers at the scene cut a hole in a garage door to enter the home.
After officers came across the homicide scene, with the bodies in close proximity, deputies then heard what sounded like an infant.
Ramos said they found a 6-month-old in a back bedroom crib, unharmed.
Ramos said the crime was "shocking, even to veteran law enforcement."
