WATERBORO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Central Maine Power is working to restore electricity to more than 3,600 accounts after an equipment failure at a substation in Waterboro Sunday morning.

Spokesperson John Carroll said a piece of equipment failed around 8:30 a.m. Sunday, sparking a fire at the substation.

CMP reported outages in most of Waterboro, and parts of Hollis, Shapleigh, and Limerick just before noon.

Carroll says crews are on scene testing the substation, and power is expected to be restored by 3:30 p.m.
