DAYTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - State Police say they're responding to a potentially dangerous situation in the town of Dayton.

Law enforcement officials went to the scene shortly after 4:00 PM Tuesday. There's apparently a standoff and a fire.

It's unclear whether anyone is injured.

Right now part of Route 35, which is also called Goodwins Mills Road, is closed while they deal with the situation.

State Police Spokesperson Steve McCausland says they're dealing with a standoff. There is also a fire nearby and McCausland says the two incidents may be related. McCausland says a civilian at the scene is firing a gun as well.

McCausland says that the York County Sheriff's Department is also on scene.
