The first six days of October featured above normal temperatures and it appeared that we were in for another mild month. Then over the weekend the upper air wind pattern underwent some changes and colder air arrived in New England. Sunday's high at the Portland Jetport was 58 degrees and today the temperature only reached 56 degrees. I expect high temperatures to remain in the 50s right into Saturday and this stands in stark contrast to last week when temperatures were climbing into the 60s and low 70s. An area of low pressure is going to track by to our south on Tuesday putting plenty of clouds in the sky and possibly kicking off a few showers. A light easterly wind should put a distinct chill in the air. The low will move away from us on Wednesday with a cold front hot on its heels. This should make for another mostly cloudy day with showers arriving Wednesday night. Drier air behind the front will lead to more sunshine on Thursday and Friday.
