HOULTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A missing hunter has been found safe and sound.
77-year old Ralph Bubar was reported missing last night by his son; he had apparently gone out bird hunting.
His son started searching for him and found Bubar's vehicle abandoned west of Houlton.
Wardens scoured the area all night with dogs, search planes, and about 50 volunteers. Bubar was found in Hammond Township around 5:30 Sunday night, after 24 hours in the woods. He was about a mile and half from his abandoned truck.
Bubar is in relatively good shape but was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital to be checked out.
Wardens remind hunters if they are heading out this season to go prepared and bring a GPS, compass, cell phone, Matches, and proper clothing.
