BRUNSWICK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The owners of the Brunswick-based Gelato Fiasco, have been named as Empower100's Top 100 young up-and-coming entrepreneurs of the country. They are in Washington, DC where they will receive their award and then have a private tour of the White House.

The Empower100 is a national organization that awards young business owners who are under 30 years old and meet specific guidelines concerning the number of employees they have and how much profit they make.

Owners Josh Davis and Bruno Tropeano say they luckily just made the cut-off age (Josh turned 30 last month and Bruno is 29!). The duo created their business out of a love for gelato after graduating from college. After tasting gelato at conferences in Italy and the U.S., they decided to make their gelato completely from scratch. They believe that sets them apart from other gelato places. Over the past few years, the owners expanded from their Brunswick headquarters to a store in downtown Portland, thanks to a loan from Create Jobs for USA, an organization backed by Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz. Now, Gelato Fiasco ships to supermarkets around New England and always have around 40 flavors to taste at both of their stores.  The owners say their focus is on perfecting the gelato flavors and making people happy.
