Suspect held in custody in Cushing murder

CUSHING, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A man from Tenants Harbor is charged with murder in connecton with a shooting death in Cushing.

Andrew Kierstead, 40, is under police custody as he undergoes evaluation at the Pen Bay Medical facility in Rockport.

The man he's accused of killing was Richard Mills, 48, from Cushing. Police were called to a home at Far Meadow Lane where they found his body just before 8 p.m. Thursday night. Detectives spent the night at the house collecting evidence and conducting interviews.

An autopsy on Mills' body has been scheduled for later this morning at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta.
