It's pretty hard to top this weather.

Sunny: Check. Dry: Check. Comfortable: Check. Discount double check.: Check.

High pressure has dominated our weather pattern since Monday and it will maintain dry weather until Friday evening, when a cold front moves through with some showers and thunderstorms.

Today: Mostly sunny and mild. High temperatures will reach the low 80s inland while staying in the upper 70s along the coastline. In both cases there readings are above average for this time of year. (Average high is 73 F)

Tonight: Mostly clear with some patchy fog. Temperatures drop into the upper 40s in the mountains to mid 50s along the coastline.

Friday: Mostly sunny through the early afternoon, by later in the day some clouds may filter in from west to east in advance of a cold front. Temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Thursday and winds will pick up to 10-20 MPH out of the south. Overall it will be a nice day but maybe just not QUITE as pleasant as today.

A cold front pushes through on Friday night and brings shower activity to Maine. It looks like front will really weaken quite a bit on its way through Vermont and New Hampshire so I'm not anticipating anything too heavy as far as precipitation. Still, if you are heading out Friday night, I'd plan for a shower or two.

Most computer models have the front clearing the Maine coastline by 8 AM on Saturday. That would be fantastic and all...but I'm not buying it. How many times have the computer models pushed a cold front offshore WAY too fast and left us with showers when the forecast was sunny? (Rhetorical question, but the answer is A TON). So, instead I'm leaving showers in the forecast until late morning over southern Maine and early afternoon over Downeast and northern Maine. After the front moves out, look for late day sunshine.

Cool, dry weather will return on Sunday as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the west. Look for mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 60s.

Side Note: I watched "Children of the Corn" for the first time ever (I know, I know) two nights ago. Call me silly but I did NOT realize X-Games star Shaun White was in that movie.

Ahem, please compare:
