(NEWS CENTER) -- The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office may have compromised peoples' identities after leaking social security numbers on Facebook.

At 9:15 am September 4, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office put into service a software update that would automatically send a weekly arrest report to various media outlets as well post the arrests to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

The software update inadvertently listed the social security numbers of approximately 180 individuals who were arrested between August 27, 2012 and September 4, 2012.

The error was discovered within 45 minutes of the initial posting and was immediately removed. It is believed that during that brief time, that approximately 70 people had access to the social security information.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says that the software update will not include social security numbers in the future.
