It's been a cool September so far but the next few days will change that

The storm that brought heavy rainfall to parts of Maine and New Hampshire is now moving away from us with a weak ridge of high pressure building in. The high won't be here very long but should provide us with a partly sunny day on Thursday. Temperatures are going to range from the mid 70s near the coast to the low 80s in New Hampshire. A slow moving cold front will approach our region late Thursday and then stall over the area on Friday with warm and very muggy air in place. This will set the stage for the possibility of thunderstorms Friday afternoon some of which could become severe. A second cold front is expected to approach us Friday night and then slowly work its way through our region over the weekend. This will keep the threat of showers or thunderstorms in the forecast for Saturday and possibly for Sunday depending on how quickly the front moves.
