(NEWS CENTER) -- A 15-year-old boy is being held in juvenile detention on charges of raping an 8-year-old girl who has autism.
The Lewiston Sun Journal says the teenager was charged Friday with gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact. He's being held at the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland. Police say the young victim suffers from fetal alcohol syndrome. She apparently lived with the teen.
Sheriff's investigators say the sexual assault occurred Thursday.
