If you spent any time outdoors Thursday afternoon chances are you noticed the stiff southwesterly wind that gusted to over 20 mph at times. The wind will die down tonight and then return on Friday transporting some rather hot air into our region. Temperatures should have no problem climbing into the mid and upper 80s with some low 90s southwest of Portland. An approaching cold front is going to put more clouds in the sky than what we had Thursday and there could be a few isolated showers or thunderstorms as well. The cold front is expected to be south of us by Saturday morning with cooler air back in place over New England. A ridge of high pressure is going to build over us and right now it appears that high pressure will control our weather right through the holiday weekend. The remnants of Isaac should bring us some rainfall on Tuesday.
