CLINTON, Maine (AP) - Police say the death of 3-month-old girl while under the care of a baby sitter in Fairfield is now being investigated as a homicide.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said Tuesday that police are working with the state medical examiner's office to investigate the July 8 death of Brooklyn Foss-Greenaway.
The death of any child under age three automatically triggers an investigation.
The Morning Sentinel reports that no charges have been filed.
The baby's parents live in Clinton and had arranged for the child to spend the night at the baby sitter's Fairfield home.
Emergency officials arrived just six minutes after receiving a call in the early-morning hours that the child was unresponsive and not breathing.
