Driver sought in fatal crash turns himself in

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A woman is dead after being struck by a car in Portland.

The victim was Bonnie Bachelder, 61, from Portland.  Police say the car that hit her was driven by Corey Baker, 27, also from Portland.

The crash happened early Sunday morning in front of 757 Washington Ave.  Police say Baker drove away from the scene, but he turned himself in at the police station about 90 minutes later.

No charges have yet been filed, although police are still gathering evidence, and they ask anyone with information about the case to please come forward.
