AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Governor Paul LePage has nominated a new Director of the Maine State Housing Authority.

John Gallagher would be taking the place of former director, Dale McCormick, who left in March.

The Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability reviewed Maine Housing expenditures at the request of the Legislatures's Government Oversight Committee.

OPEGA did find potential problems, but mostly just a lack of documentation on certain expenses. They found no major wrong-doing, but McCormick did resign.

Gallagher himself has a background in housing and real estate, currently working as the director of the Westbrook Housing Authority.

He says he's learned a lot from the OPEGA review, including how important it is to be fully transparent with everything the agency does.

Gallagher will have a review on September 6th with the Joint Standing Committee on Labor, Research, and Economic Development. If approved, he will still need confirmation from the Maine Senate.
