If you are scheduled to take vacation this week, you've made a good choice. If you planned a wedding this week, you've made a good choice. If you chose to drink milk on a warm day, you've made a bad choice.
We are in for a pleasant stretch of weather with just a few chances of isolated showers over the next few days. High pressure to our west will be the main "player" with generally dry conditions and temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Today: Sunny skies through the rest of the afternoon. Weak onshore flow will cool down the coastline later in the day, but most spots will hit the upper 70s first.
Tonight: Partly cloudy and quiet. Low temperatures will end up between 52-59 F with fairly low humidity.
Tomorrow: A weak upper level disturbance coming out of Canada will swing through tomorrow morning. As a result look for a lot of clouds and some showers during the morning hours. By noon there should be some decent breaks of sunshine, which will further fuel some afternoon showers and thunderstorms along the coast. This disturbance won't ruin the day, but just prepared for pop up showers. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s again.
Wednesday: A decent amount of clouds around but dry. Setup breakdown: That cold front that moved offshore on Sunday will STILL be lingering just a few hundred miles offshore and low pressure systems will be riding along the front like a train track, up the eastern seaboard. None of these will HIT Maine directly but some lows will come close enough to give us an increase in cloud cover. Wednesday will be one of those days.
Thursday-Saturday: It's usually a good thing when I can lump three days together like this. Mostly sunny with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Special Thanks: If you have a keen eye you may notice some new "backgrounds" for our Today/Tonight/Tomorrow forecast boards. These new and improved shots are via Corey Templeton who runs a pretty awesome blog, aptly and simply named "Portland Daily Photo"..I'd highly encourage you to visit his site when you get a chance. Please note that the original photograph he sent me for the background was MUCH more expertly color balanced but I had to photoshop it more than Kim Kardashian in Maxim to get it to fit our weather graphic format.
