GORHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Fire officials have ruled a fire that broke out in Gorham Friday night an arson.

Gorham Police say 30-year-old Jeremy Crouse has been arrested and charged with arson.  Authorities say Crouse acted alone and the fire was an isolated incident and was not connected to any of the arson fires that occured in Gorham earlier this year.

The call came in for a fire at a group home at 7 Green Street about 8:30 p.m. Friday evening.  All hands were called in to battle the fire and soon it went to two alarms.  Heavy smoke was showing when crews arrived.

A witness tipped off police to a person who may have started the fire and that person was taken into custody.

There was extensive damage to the first and second floors at the front of the building, but firefighters were able to keep flames from spreading to the back.  Everyone in the home got out safely.

Officials say the fire was started in a couch.
