WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWS CENTER) -- Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME1) is urging cruise ship companies to buy Maine lobster.
More than a dozen cruise ships are scheduled to visit Portland this year, and Pingree wrote a letter to the owner of each one, asking them to consider buying lobster fresh off the boat when the ships come to port.
The letter says, "Not only does the ample supply guarantee a good value for your compnay, but purchasing locally sourced seafood would set a great example for other companies like yours in strengthening Maine's economy and coastal communities."
