AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Sometimes when there's a spike in burglaries, police say it's just a blip on the radar and expect crime rates to go back to normal. That's not the case in Kennebec County.
"I started working for the [Kennebec County] Sheriff's Department in October, and since I started, it's just been on the rise," said Deputy Jacob Pierce.
On Friday, Pierce said there were three reported burglaries in Kennebec County. Two were in Manchester, and one was in Hallowell.
Less than one month ago, there were 12 burglaries in the BDM Properties storage facility in Wayne.
Police have not made arrests in any of these cases, and Deputy Pierce expects the burglary problem to continue.
"With the violent crimes, prescription medication issues, and the economy, people are looking to make a quick buck," said Pierce.
Anyone with information about these burglary cases is asked to call the Kennebec County Sheriff's Department at 207-623-3614.
