BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- The city introduced a new program allowing residents and business owners to gather property information with the click of a mouse. A web-based parcel map system is now available through the city's website.
Creator of the program, Sean Gambrel with the city of Bangor said, "Knowing where property lines are and who owns pieces of the property can be really important when doing some initial planning and just understanding what is going on around the area."
Previously, residents and business owners would have to go to City Hall and rely solely on one-hundred and sixty maps. This conversion allows the city to be seen in one image.
Users can search properties by address or porperty owner and attain information such as dimensions, recent construction, and owner information. The maps are layered with aerial images, property dimensions and parcel lines.
"What this does is it allows people to get some more of that background information like be able to see homes, businesses, sidewalks," said Gambrel.
The program is available on the city's homepage. Gambrel said more features will be added as interest in the program grows.
