NAPLES, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The heat and humidity took a toll on crews trying to battling a fire in Naples.
The fire broke out at a home around 10am Thursday; a neighbor spotted it and called it in. Officials say flames were shooting up through the roof when firefighters arrived on the scene.
The homeowners were not home at the time, and in a last minute move, had taken their dogs with them - something that saved them all.
Nearly everything inside the home is gone. The family had lived in the home for 30 years. Fire officials told us crews were only able to spend short periods of time fighting the flames and took longer break periods.
No one was injured, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
