PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Do rising temperatures precipitate a rise in crime?  There have been several studies done to try and find a direct correlation, but the findings are inconclusive.

Many common phrases in the our language indicate a relationship between heat and anger, for example, blood boiling, hot tempered and steaming mad are a few.

NEWS CENTER spoke with a couple veteran police officers to get their insights into whether they feel a heat wave can bring on a crime wave.
