CLINTON, Maine (AP) - A burglary suspect from Clinton has escaped from police custody by apparently climbing out the rear window of a cruiser that was supposed to be locked.
Chief Craig Johnson says 19-year-old Timothy Ezell was arrested at about 7 p.m. Tuesday after a witness reported that he had broken into a car.
Officers took Ezell to the Winslow police station for processing. While they were inside, Ezell escaped by opening a rear window of the Crown Victoria.
Johnson says the back windows and door handles are usually inoperable, but for some reason, the windows in this case worked. Ezell also may have been able to slip out of handcuffs.
Ezell was still on the loose as of Wednesday. Police say although he has a criminal record, he is not dangerous.
