BELFAST, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The manslaughter trial of a man from the town of Knox has begun.

Luke Bryant is accused of shooting his friend, Tyler Seaney, in February 2011. Seaney, who was from Brewer, had joined the military and was about to leave for boot camp.

Jury selection and opening arguments were completed Monday, and testimony began on Tuesday.

Witnesses and the police say the two of them would often try to scare each other by pulling the trigger of the gun.

The 911 call was played in court. Because the closest ambulance was from Unity, dispatchers had Bryant perform CPR on Seaney. It was clear on the recording that Bryant was emotional and crying.

The defense says it was an accident and told the jury the prosecution has to  prove the shooting was a reckless act.
