SEARSPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A 4-year-old boy from Searsport is in the hospital after an ATV accident last night.
Authorities say the boy was riding a 4-wheeler near his grandfather's home in Shin Pond when he apparently tried to go up a hill and the machine rolled backward and landed on top of him.
Nobody actually saw it happen, but his father found him unconscious, his helmet lying on the ground nearby. He was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital with possible internal injuries. There, he was stabilized, and then flown by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
The names of those involved have not been released. The Wardens Service is investigating.
