BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Officials with the city of Bangor say the state is always in need of entrepreneurs and a program at the University of Maine is helping students fill that need by teaching them to be the next generation of small business owners.
According to business experts at U-Maine 82 percent of companies in the state are small businesses with 50 employees or less.
The Foster Center for Student Innovation at the University of Maine works to get the next generation of entrepreneurs on their feet. Most business licenses in Maine cost 175 dollars and have online applications.
Officials at the Foster Center say anyone looking to start a business needs to do their research and test their products before hand. If the business fails it's better to fail fast and fail cheap.
The Foster Center for Student Innovation is only for students but the Target Technology Center in Bangor is designed to help small business owners in the area.
