ROCKLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Seafood lovers are expected to consume 20,000 pounds of lobster at this week's 65th annual Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland. King Neptune will preside over the official opening of the festival Wednesday at noon. The 2012 Sea Goddess will be crowned at 8pm.
Organizers say 25,000 spectators will line Main Street for The Big Parade Saturday morning at 10. Sunday is Hometown Day -- admission is free. The festival also features live music every night. This year's Saturday night headline act is .38 Special.
This year, with the record low prices, there's more attention on lobster than ever.Tuesday night, to encourage more people to eat more lobster, festival organizers decided to lower their dinner prices.
