HAMPDEN, Maine  (NEWS CENTER) -- State Police Spokesman Steve McCausland says the bodies of a man and woman were found inside a home on 10 Marina Road in Hampden Friday. He says their deaths are being called a murder-suicide.

Police initially came to the house after a 911 call around 7:00 a.m. regarding a homicide and the male caller said he was planning to kill himself. Homes nearby were evacuated and Route 1A was shut down as a precaution.

Police say 53-year-old Katherine Hunt was killed by her boyfriend, 53-year-old Lawrence Beaute, inside her home early Friday morning.  Beaute then shot and killed himself.

Authorities say Beaute was in the process of breaking up with Hunt and was living with her since moving from Florida last year.

The two bodies were discovered in the kitchen by the State Police Tactical Team around noon Friday when they entered the two-story house.  The bodies have been taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta for examination.
