PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The city of Portland is getting accolades from another national magazine. This time, Kiplinger Personal Finance Magazine has named it as the top city in the country for retirees looking for a new place to call home.
The magazine rated cities based on cost of living, employment growth, educated population and tech-savviness. Portland was complimented for its low crime rate, high-quality medical facilities and opportunities for those who want to telecommunite or fly to their jobs.
Kiplinger also noted the city's arts scene and Old Port shopping district.
Just last week, Portland was named the 3rd best city in the U.S. for families by Parenting Magazine.
