EXETER, New Hampshire (NEWS CENTER) - Health officials in New Hampshire are expanding their search as they try to find people who may have contracted Hepatitis C from a traveling medical technician.
David Kwiatkowski is facing federal drug charges after investigators say he tampered with drugs at the Exeter Hospital's cardiac catheterization unit.
So far, 31 people have tested positive for the same strain of hepatitis C, which investigators believe stems from Kwiatkowski's actions.
Now, New Hampshire's director of public health is recommending screening tests for anyone who had surgery at that hospital, or was admitted to the I.C.U., between April first of last year and may 25th of this year .
Officials had previously asked for a smaller group to get tested.
