LINCOLNVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The combination of a small town and strong sea breeze made for a tough fire for crews to battle in Lincoln Sunday afternoon.

A fire started around 2:30pm at a home along Salt Pond Road, less than mile away from Lincolnville Beach.

Firefighters spent hours putting out flames and hot spots.

They say the town's rural setting made it difficult to get water to the house... and the sea breeze only fueled the flames higher.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and there are no reported injuries.

After part of the roof collapsed, the homeowner said it was difficult to watch because he built the house himself.
