BERLIN, NH (NEWS CENTER) -- The New Hampshire Employment Security office hosted a job fair for openings at the new federal prison in Berlin.
The Berlin Prison is bringing much needed jobs and economic relief to a hard hit area of the state.
After a long delay because of a budget battle in Washington the new prison is open. Right now the facility is only at 40-percent of it's staffing. The job fair was held to try to fill the rest of the positions. The prison will have a staff of about 300.
Besides the jobs, the prison is expected have an economic spin off of about 40-million dollar annually when it's up and operating at full capacity.
The prison is expected to start housing prisoners and be operating at near capacity by late Fall.
