HOULTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A fugitive who escaped Louisiana last week in a stolen police cruiser has been caught at the Houlton border crossing.

Police say Benjamin Gottke rolled up to the port of entry yesterday and when agents asked him for identification, he said he didn't have any.

He apparently then fled south on I-95, but was caught later by Houlton police.

Gottke now faces charges in Maine as a fugitive from justice and refusing to submit to arrest.

U.S. Border Officials haven't said whether he was still in the cruiser stolen from the Tensas Parish Detention Center in Waterproof, Louisiana.
