LEBANON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Firefighters from Maine and New Hampshire battled a stubborn fire and sweltering conditions Friday afternoon in Lebanon.

The call went out about 5:30 p.m. for the fire on Windswept Drive.  It quickly went to three alarms.  When crews arrived on scene, they found that the roof of a house had already been heavily damaged, and flames were shooting from the kitchen area.

The intense heat from the fire and the hot day made it difficult for firefighters.  Three of them were taken to the hospital with heat exhaustion. The owners of the home were out of town.  There's no word yet on what caused the fire.
