AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The Brunswick Executive Airport will receive more than $2 million in grants from the Federal Aviation Administration to help the airport's conversion from a former Naval airfield.
Democratic U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree of Maine says the funding will help construct a number of hangers to accommodate small, general aviation aircraft as well as remove military markings from the airfield and install perimeter fencing to meet federal standards.
Pingree says the grant will help the airfield continue its transition to private use while improving safety.
